How long have You worked with Kent occupational therapy?

I recently joined Kent Occupational Therapy in January 2022 and I am looking forward to working with the team and bringing my skills and experience. As an occupational therapist, I love connecting with different people and getting to know them as individuals, learning their stories and using my clinical skills to help improve their quality of life and overall happiness.

what do you like about being an OT?

I enjoy making a difference to a person’s life and enabling them to partake in tasks that previously may have been too difficult. I also enjoy working alongside other professionals such as physiotherapists, speech and language therapists as well as equipment representatives as required.

As an occupational therapist, I might identify the priorities of what the client wants and needs to do and establish any barriers. I can then support the client to perform the activities that will give the most reward and ensure meaning and purpose in their life. An individual’s mental health can be impacted for a range of reasons, and I feel it is vital to look at all the potential factors and help support the individual and the family unit to make positive steps forward.

Outside of work

I have a keen interest in all areas of holistic health which I like to bring into my work with individuals. I recently completed a diploma in nutrition and find it useful when supporting clients with lifestyle changes. Alongside being a busy mum, I enjoy pilates, dancing and music. I used to play the piano and hope to restart this hobby soon.
