Area of interest and relevant experience

I have a special interest in supporting children with Motor-Sensory Difficulties. I also have a special interest in the effects of sleep deprivation on activities of daily living. As well as becoming an Occupational Therapist I have also done a qualification in Sleep Coaching. This enabled me to work with NHS commissioners in setting up an NHS funded sleep pathway in my area. I am currently working on another new pathway within the NHS to help support and diagnose children with suspected Developmental Coordination Disorder (formally known as Dyspraxia).

When did you start working with Kent Occupational Therapy?

what do you like about being an OT?

I enjoy watching the enjoyment and pleasure someone gets from reaching their goal. I remember the struggles I had in school, especially with writing and feeling like such a failure when I failed my GCSE’s. When I later returned to education a teacher realised my difficulties but also my potential. I never thought I could attend university let alone become a professional. I now get the pleasure of being in a job where I can support children and their families in achieving their potential.

Outside of work

I have a few interests but one of the things I love the most is traveling and visiting new places. My wife and I are also big Disney fans and love going to Walt Disney World in Florida. My favourite character is Donald Duck as he is the number one Duck.

Just like Walt I believe “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney
